When starting bodybuilding, you have two paths both lain ahead of you, start with cutting or bulking.

Each are equal in their own special way. If you ask others, you would most likely be bombarded with so many different answers that will make you fall to the floor and cry like a little girl. Well, over the last six months, I have developed some good knowledge from others' mistakes.

One of the best places to find these would be in the Bodybuilding.com forums or in articles written by bodybuilders for bodybuilders.

I came across many questions about what to start with first. Each time I went and took a gander, I ended up getting lost and walking away with nothing. Well, enough with the mumbo jumbo, and let's get it on.

The Good News

Starting With A Cutting Diet

  • Lowering body fat to a desired level will be extremely easier than cutting after a bulking phase. (Unless you are already husky.)
  • Gains will be phenomenal when bulking phase begins.
  • Self-esteem will be greatly increased.
  • Motivation will be greatly increased when bulking phase occurs as mass will be more noticeable.
  • After bulking, you should not have that much fat to get rid of, so you can cut down easily.

Starting With A Bulking Diet

  • Mass will be noticeable within the first few weeks.
  • More self-esteem.
  • Strength increase.
  • You get to eat a sh!t load of food!
  • The more mass you have, the more calories you need to maintain that mass. Hence you burn more calories with more mass!

The Bad News

Bad things that come with both paths, however, are unavoidable. So let's get on to the bad news...

Starting With A Cutting Diet

  • You will lose your leanness (become smooth) when you start bulking. Hence you will lose all the "ripness" (one of my many made up words).
  • Muscle loss will occur, and that is the only real thing that pro bodybuilders are afraid of. So you might even look smaller, that's if you diet wrong, and lose more than a two pounds a week.
  • Depression occurs in some after they lose their "ripness", not suicidal depression, sorta like losing a loved one depression.

Starting With A Bulking Diet

  • When you start with your cutting diet, you will have a lot more fat to get rid of to obtain your "ripness". (Nothing some wonderful Hydroxycut can't fix.)
  • Muscle loss will occur, but not much—if you diet right.
  • No more eating whatever you want to eat. That is extremely hard for some people; some even commit suicide because of it (no, just kidding!)
  • Cardio will be needed, due to the lack of it during bulking phase. No one likes cardio, I never liked running unless I was being chased by a rabid dog or something under that category.

Conclusion

As you can see, each path has pretty good reasons why to take it. There are a sh!tload more facts, but I cannot remember that much! Both of these categories should include supplements, since they are definitely helpful.

Think of it this way—it's better and cheaper than doing crack, pot, or whatever the he!l else that isn't good for your body!

"That's all folks!"
